(2016·石家庄市调研检测)During the two and a half years since I settled down in Germany, I've caught a cold several times and gotten to experience how different German cold remedies (疗法) are from the Chinese ones.

Back in Taiwan, whenever I had a streaming nose and a dry throat, I'd rush to the hospital to get prescribed medicine. For a fever, I would receive a red pill, which I now know is a type of antibiotic (抗生素).

Another thing I know now is that the criminal behind my cold is a virus. The drugs I used only relieved the symptoms. When I went to a German hospital intending to get some medicine to treat my cold, I got nothing more than a pat on my shoulder and words from the doctor, saying that I should get some really good rest. The first time this happened, I was shocked. I wondered how I could put up with my sickness without the help of medicine. But the longer I stayed in Germany, the better I knew how to selfmedicate as other Germans do.

I learned to take vitamin C to build up my resistance. But what I like the most is drinking “Erkältungstee”. For German people, Erkältungstee is what their grandmother gives them when they catch a cold. It's a tea bag mainly made of lime flower and orange rind. Another popular cold remedy in Germany is chicken soup. During my first winter in Germany, I got a really bad cold. My neighbor brought me a bowl of chicken soup to make me feel better. It contained a lot of ginger, onion, garlic, carrots and celery. Germans believe these ingredients are perfect for helping your body recover.

4.How did the author feel after seeing the German doctor?

    A.Relieved. B.Surprised.

    C.Satisfied. D.Stressed.

5.According to the author, what effect do antibiotics have on his cold?

    A.They cure his cold.

    B.They prevent the disease.

C.They kill the virus in him.

    D.They make him feel better.

6.What do Germans think of “Erkältungstee”?

A.It can replace any cold remedy.

B.It can build up one's resistance.

C.It's a good way to selfmedicate.

    D.It's better than chicken soup.

7.What can we infer from the text?

A.Germans tend not to use antibiotics to treat a cold.

B.The author often catches a cold in Taiwan.

C.The author seldom drinks chicken soup.

D.German doctors are cold to patients.

(2016·东北三省四市教研联合体模拟)It's a familiar feeling. Your friend has made the team for Saturday's big game, and you take certain pleasure in telling him you can't be there to watch him play. You smile, but that voice in you asks, why him and not you?

Envy is a fault that we like to keep secret. It raises its ugly head when we focus on what we want but don't possess now, or we may even wish for and take pleasure in someone losing it. Feelings of unfairness are part of being human, but when you focus on them, you can never get out of your dark emotions. And that makes you feel bad.

So is there a solution? Is there anything you can do to stop the most ungenerous emotions?

Well, why not turn envy on its head, and make it the encouragement you need for selfimprovement? The best weapon against envy is not to compete where you can't shine, but to do your absolute best where you can.

Start by making peace with yourself, and accept the gifts which make you unique. Make an agreement with yourself to be the best you can be. Then find out exactly the circumstances and qualities in others that start your envy. Is it someone's singing voice, their work promotion, or their new car? Envy shows us the things we'd like to have, so make a plan to earn what's important to you. Sign up for a night class. Start a training program. Give up a treat or two, and start saving for what you want.

And aim for real pleasure in the achievements and good fortune of others. Cheer on your friend when he scores that goal. Enjoy your best friend's wedding day. Then go out and do something special, and make you wonderfully proud of yourself.

8.The first paragraph is meant to ________.

A.give examples B.tell the main idea

C.introduce the topic D.ask the question

9.When envy appears, we actually ________.

    A.ignore its existence

    B.have feelings of unfairness

    C.share it with friends

    D.lose something of our own

10.What is the best way to help stop envy?

A.Developing your own strength to the full.

B.Competing for what you are not good at.

C.Forgetting about the things you can't get.

D.Trying to get anything that makes you envy.

11.What is the author's attitude towards people with envy?

    A.Subjective. B.Objective.

    C.Unconcerned. D.Worried.
(2016·广东省五校协作体联考)In many countries, heart disease kills a lot of women and even more men. There are four major causes of this disease and these are smoking, poor or bad diet, a family history of heart disease and stressful work. Among these main wrongdoers, the most common cause is stress.

What is stress and how do you feel when you are under stress? Imagine you live alone — you are lying in bed at night and, suddenly, you hear someone in the kitchen. Immediately your heart begins to beat very fast and you feel that you can hardly breathe. What you are feeling is not stress, but fear. However, your body changes in the same way when you feel stress. That means that if you feel anxious and worried during an important examination, your heart may beat very fast and you may feel breathless too. You are experiencing stress. Another common situation in which a person is likely to feel stress is to have to do something, for example, performing a boring duty, every day.

Let us look at the case of Annie who was a nurse. She felt a lot of stress in her work and began to have very bad headaches at the end of the day. Each morning she woke up more tired than she was when she went to sleep. She did not want to go out in the evening with her friends and she felt unhappy all the time.

Finally, she sat down and thought about her life. She saw a lot of illness and death in her work but that was not the reason why she was under stress. The real reason was that she felt unable to make a positive decision in her job — she had to do what the doctors and sisters told her.

So, Annie went back to college for further study. When she graduated, she found a job where she was part of a team as before, but where she had responsibility in making decisions. Her working hours were longer and her work was more difficult than when she was a nurse but she enjoyed it.She felt she was in control of her life and her work. For Annie, stress in her old job had made her change her life and end a difficult situation. Stress in her new job became a good thing because it helped her achieve satisfaction in her life and in her work.

12.According to the passage, ________ die of heart disease.

    A.most men

    B.more men than women

    C.more women than men

    D.most women

13.Feeling ________ is one form of stress.

    A.tired B.alone

    C.anxious D.breathless

14.When Annie was a nurse, she felt no real ________ in her work or in her life.

    A.unhappiness B.breakdown

    C.excitement D.responsibility

15.What is one major difference between Annie's new job and her old one?

    A.It includes teamwork.

    B.It demands higher qualifications.

    C.It ensures satisfaction.

    D.It involves decisionmaking.

故填has changed。

故填a。

故填what。

根据下文“for the most part”可知,此处与上文形成转折。 故填But。

I'm expecting you to come to China. When you arrive in Beijing, you'd better take the CRH train, which have been well developed and become popular in China nowadays. It has lots of different lines, so it is convenient for you to travel wherever you want to go. The CRH trains are spacious, comfortable and run at high speed. They arrive on schedule and guarantee the safety of travelers. It's easy to get tickets through many channels, such as by telephone, through the Internet, or on the selfservice ticket machine. Besides, prices of tickets are reasonable. It offers firstclass services to passengers and I am sure you will enjoy a good journey.

    Yours,

    Li Hua
